2010 Birder Breakfast/Lunch Volunteer Opportunities
February 17th, 2010:
The Friends of Point Pelee require many volunteers from May 1st through May 16th to assist with the Festival of Birds 2010 Birders Breakfast and Lunch (BBL).
Each May season the Friends offer an extra food service at the Visitor Centre for our early morning birdwatchers. This outside service is one of the Friends largest fundraising activities of the season. We are able to offer this service thanks to our Volunteer's efforts! Last season we had over 55 fantastic volunteers who, through various shifts put in 117 hours all together throughout the 17 day festival.
Working with our Volunteer Coordinator; the morning shift, 6:45am - 11:00 am duties include serving hot and cold beverages and light snacks. The mid-morning shift, 11:00am - 1:30pm includes cooking or serving BBQ hamburgers, hot dogs and sausage and beverages. The clean-up shift, 12noon - 2:00 pm includes cleaning the serving areas, and washing the utensils and preparing the area for the next service day.
Volunteers receive free entry into the park and coffee the day of your shift(s). Once your shift is finished, feel free to enjoy the park for the rest of the day.
If you are interested in volunteering for any of these times, please contact Janice Rogers, General Manager at 519-326-6173 or email to info@friendsofpointpelee.comfor further details.
